Oakleaf Hideaway is a recently renovated cottage nestled in the trees on 20 private acres atop Lookout Mountain, just 1.5 miles from DeSoto State Park. Featuring private walking trails, seasonal waterfalls, and 2,000 feet of frontage on Straight Creek, the cottage is a peaceful place to unwind, recharge, and enjoy the quiet of Northeast Alabama. You’ll be close to the best of the area, including DeSoto Falls, downtown Mentone, Little River Canyon, and shopping and restaurants in Fort Payne.

Master Suite Wake up to quiet woods and golden sunsets from the king bed, dressed with 600-thread-count linens. French doors open to the large back deck and fire pit area, making it easy to step outside for morning coffee or an evening under the trees. The suite also includes a cozy sitting area with an antique French settee, a closet, chest, and a private bath with a full-size washer and dryer. Guest Bedroom The guest bedroom includes two twin beds that can be pushed together for couples. This bright, airy room looks out toward the forest and features soft linens, drapery, and a custom mural framed with aged local barn wood. Kitchen The well-appointed kitchen is designed for cooking in, with warm butcher block counters, a large rustic island, black-stainless appliances, a gas stove, and thoughtful details made from wood reclaimed from a nearby 1800s barn. Rough-sawn open shelving from a local family farm adds to the cottage’s warm, handmade feel. Living Room & Dining Room The open living and dining area is cozy, warm, and comfortable year-round. Hand-scraped oak floors, wood accent walls, a limewashed fireplace, and a wood-burning stove make cooler days especially inviting. For movie nights, the 40-inch 4K smart TV includes Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV apps. Just bring your favorite TV provider login. While we think the best days here are spent outside, the cottage also has fast Wi-Fi and reliable LTE/4G coverage. The dining table seats six comfortably, and we provide china and service for eight. The front door has a digital lock, and we’ll send your personal entry code before arrival.
